In Greece, according to article 215 of L. 4957/2022, in each Higher Educational Institution (HEI) an administrative structure is recommended, where the level and administrative structure are determined by the “Quality Assurance Unit (QA). QA is functionally independent of the other units and is supervised by the Rector or the relevant vice-Rector that has been assigned by the relevant authority. The mission of the QA is the continuous quality improvement of the educational and research work of the Institution and the effective operation and performance of its services, in accordance with international practices, especially of the European Higher Education Area, and the guidelines of the Hellenic Authority for Higher Education (HAHE). QA is structured internally by a) the Quality Assurance Committee and b) the Quality Assurance Service.

The mission of the University of Thessaly (UTH) is the provision of high-quality education to its students and the promotion of knowledge and research in the cognitive areas related to its study programs. The University of Thessaly aims to promote knowledge and specialization under the perspective of ethical rules which will serve the needs of society, form a free academic environment, conduct high-level research, to guarantee that the teaching staff has the highest possible level for teaching and research, in shaping a culture of collaborations with educational and research institutions at home and abroad. The main objective of University of Thessaly is the recognition and attractiveness of its undergraduate and postgraduate programs, through the next decade at the national level, and the international acceptance of its ongoing research work.

The quality assurance policy of the Department of Agriculture, Plant Production and Rural Environment of the University of Thessaly has as its main axis the development and maintenance of a culture of quality within the academic community of the Department, so that the fulfillment of the goals becomes possible, through education, excellence, promoting knowledge and innovation in research, interdisciplinary, extroversion, and interaction with society. The Assurance Policy of the Department is consistent with the strategic framework of operation of Quality Assurance Unit and with the principles of the Quality Assurance System of the University of Thessaly.

At the end of each academic semester students evaluate their courses by completing a relevant questionnaire in an electronic course evaluation system. This process aims to gather feedback, improve courses, and assess teaching performance.
