Department of Agriculture Crop Production and Rural Environment

Facilities

Building and Farm

The Department is housed in a building of the School of Agricultural Sciences AND is located in Volos. The building has all the necessary facilities (e.g., classrooms, laboratories, greenhouses, IT infrastructure and library). Amphitheaters, lecture rooms and research or teaching laboratories are well equipped with the necessary audiovisual tools. The Department has also a farm in Velestino covering an area of 150.000 m2.

 Library

The Library & Information Centre services are available to the University of Thessaly academic community and to the wider public. User of the Library services is considered each natural or legal entity that uses the freely offered services either at the Library’s facilities, or online via the Library web site. Member of the Library is considered each natural entity that has in his/her possession a valid “Member Identity Card”, which is issued after his/her relative application. A valid “Member Identity Card” provides the member with full access rights to the Library’s online and in-house services. All Library members and users should read its Internal Regulation and abide by its rules. Failure to comply with the current Regulation, results in withdrawal of “Member Identity Card” and other library privileges.

Within the main building of the School of Agricultural Sciences there is a library that has a large collection of books and journals for the use of students and the staff. The services (e.g., book lending) of this branch of the Central Library of the University of Thessaly are fully connected with the network system of the Central Library. To use the library, a library ID must be obtained by filling out the appropriate application form. Library user ID holders can borrow material from any library branch. When applying for a library ID, the applicants are assumed to have become aware of all library regulations. The Department encourages all its members to benefit from the library for their education and research.

Opening days and hours: Monday-Friday (08:00-15:00)
