It is my pleasure and honor to welcome you to the Department of Agriculture, Crop Production and Rural Environment of the University of Thessaly.

Since its establishment in 1988, our Department has earned a distinguished position among the Agricultural Schools of Greece, offering high-quality education and conducting research with significant impact on Greek agriculture and the rural environment.

Committed to applied science, the Department provides a wide range of scientific fields through accredited undergraduate and postgraduate programs. By integrating theoretical knowledge, research, laboratory training, and practical experience, the students of the Department are enforced with the skills required to meet the challenges of modern agriculture and to contribute to sustainable development, environmental protection, and the production of high-quality agricultural products.

The academic staff and the 20 Research Laboratories conduct advanced research aimed at promoting both scientific progress and societal well-being.

Great emphasis is placed on strengthening collaborations with the local community, industry, social and institutional stakeholders, and businesses—contributing to the development of the rural economy and the sustainable management of natural resources.
