Counselling

The Student Counselling Service of the Laboratory of Psychology and Applications in Education gives students of all UTH departments the opportunity to receive psychological support and help in their personal hardships and concerns, should they wish to do so. They also can get training in management skills and problem solving to manage the difficulties they might be facing.

Accessibility center for individuals with disabilities

The Accessibility Center for individuals with disabilities at the University of Thessaly started to operate in 2010 and recently it has been renamed and reformed according to the Law 4957/2022 (Government Gazette 141/A/21-07-2022) “New Horizons in Higher Education: Enhancement of Quality, Functionality, and Integration of Higher Education Institutions with Society and other provisions”. The Accessibility Center provides its services to all individuals with disabilities and/or special educational needs at the University of Thessaly (UTH).

Gender Equality and Anti-Discrimination Committee

By decision of the Senate and in accordance with the law mandating the establishment of Gender Equality Committees in Universities, the first Gender Equality Committee (GEC) was created at the University of Thessaly.

GEC responsibilities

 The main responsibilities of the Gender Equality Committee are the following:

  • It prepares action plans to promote and secure essential equality in teaching, research and administrative processes of the University and submits an annual exposition to the Senate.
  • Proposes measures for the promotion of equality and the abolition of sexism to relevant institutions.
  • Provides information and training to members of the academic community in matters related to gender and equality.
  • Provides mediation services in cases of filed complaints against discriminatory or harassing behavior.
  • Promotes the administering of a post-graduate study program and the organization of seminars and lectures focusing on gender studies.
  • Assists the publication of research papers and studies related to its responsibilities.
  • Helps discrimination victims when they file for discriminatory behavior.

Harassment – Bullying

The University of Thessaly has a zero-tolerance policy for any form of direct or indirect discrimination, victimization, bullying or harassment and the principle of equal treatment is upheld. The University of Thessaly policy for dealing with the above-mentioned situations aims to develop an academic and work environment in which harassment and bullying have no place whatsoever and all members of the academic community can be assured that their issue will be handled responsibly and discreetly by the University.
